It is a sad incident in the kathpencil studio that the father of Mehedi Haque, the key member of kathpencil, has made his journey to the other life.
He died of cardiac arrest in Apollo Hospital on Tuesday morning, 26th May,2011, at the age of 60. Mehedi's father, Azizul Haque Banna is widely known in the country for his journalist career. He was a respected columnist and the senior assistant editor of Bangla daily Sangram. He also worked in several newspapers including Janapad, Shamachar, Dainik Jharna, Dainik Millat, Daink Kishan, Sugandha, besides several weeklies. He was more respected for being the former vice president of Dhaka Union of Journalists and for his keen interest in professional rights of colleagues. He was a member of National Press Club, Bangladesh Press Council and founding member of Barisal Divisional Journalists’ Welfare Association.
He was buried at East Badda Graveyard in the evening following three namaz-e-janazas.
Azizul Haque Banna is also the father-in-law of Shahidullah, another key member of Kathpencil studio. It is beyond our capacity to find proper ways to fill the loss that Mehedi, Shahidullah and their families suffered, we can only offer them our shoulders for at least a heartfelt cry and utter silently that we are with you. May god bless the deceased and give strength to the family members.
